Life Safety Bus 9-1-1

A Classroom on Wheels
The Life Safety Bus 9-1-1 is one of the largest and most unique pieces of equipment the Pueblo Fire Department uses to help inform the public about  fire and life safety issues.

This 45-foot long, 11-foot high, 27,000-pound mobile classroom on wheels is the only Life Safety Bus in the State of Colorado. Equipped with a kitchen, classroom, and bedroom, this red, white, and blue beauty can be set up and ready for action in less than 30 minutes.

Program Lessons
The Life Safety Bus 9-1-1 can be used to teach a variety of lessons. These lesson options include:
  • A Fire Fighter Is My Friend
  • Crawl Low in Smoke
  • Don’t Play With Matches
  • Exit Drill In The Home (EDITH)
  • Fire Drills
  • Kitchen Safety
  • Proper Use of Smoke Alarms and CO Detectors
  • Stop, Drop, and Roll
  • Tools and Toys
Features
This unique classroom is used to inform the community on fire and life safety topics, and can be used to help educate any age group from Pre-K up to senior citizens. It is equipped with a:
  • 9-1-1 phone system
  • Fog machine used to simulate a fire situation
  • Fire escape platform / ladder out the bedroom window
  • Simplex Fire Alarm System - Horn and strobe lights
  • Static display - "The Result of Fire and Heat"
  • TV / VCR
Reserving the Bus
If you are interested in having the Life Safety Bus 9-1-1 participate in your next event, please contact the Fire Prevention Bureau by phone at 719-553-2830 or by fax at 719-553-2831. The bus is available between April and October, weather permitting. Large groups of 20 or more participants are desired and an approximately 50-by-20-foot area of operation is needed.

Note: The Life Safety Bus 911 will need to be plugged in to a 120-volt outlet (regular household current).
