The professional standards function of this section was responsible for and received state accreditation from the Colorado Association of Chiefs of Police. This is an intensive process in which the Pueblo Police Department proved its compliance with recognized standards. It is a great accomplishment and a testimony to the professional staff at the police department. The unit continues to monitor policing trends and makes policy change recommendations to the Chief of Police.
The training function of this section oversees quarterly in-service training, yearly block training and coordinates training that officers get from a variety of outside sources. In 2010 the unit oversaw or coordinated over 17,000 hours of training.
