Beginning Monday, March 26, preliminary work will begin with the removal of curbs and pedestrian walkways along the Main Street and the Main Street Bridge from Abriendo Avenue to D Street. The Main Street Resurfacing – Overlay Project will eventually mean temporary street closures and rerouting of traffic from that bridge to Union Avenue. The project will allow the resurfacing of the stretch of street and installation of curbs and pedestrian walkways to meet ADA standards. This overlay project is being paid for with funds from the Highway Users Tax Fund.
On Monday, April 2, street work will begin on The 2018 Asphalt Street Resurfacing – Overlay Project, starting on Jerry Murphy from Highway 47 to Candytuft Boulevard. Motorists are advised that some lane closures will take place during this construction and some slowdowns in traffic movement could occur. This overlay project will also be paid for through the Highway Users Tax Fund. Corner adaptations to meet ADA standards will also be a part of the street work.
Following the completion of work currently underway along Santa Fe, another overlay project will begin on Santa Fe from 4th Street to 15th Street, and on 15th Street from Santa Fe to Court. There will be some lane closures during this project, paid with money approved by Pueblo voters last November in the Street Repair Utility Enterprise Fund.
Motorists are asked to drive carefully and cautiously during these projects as workers go about their jobs. Barring inclement weather, the projects are expected to take about six weeks.
